Do you have the flesh and the Spirit at the same time?

Consider this argument.

A: We sinned because we were born sinners.

B: Where is that found?

A: Romans 5:12

Death in Adam, Life in Christ

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—

B: I see. What about this?

Romans 5:18

Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.

A: But you still have to believe.

B: I didn’t say anything about not believing but the text you quoted that humanity was tainted with sin does not end there. It continues to talk about being imputed with righteousness. That doesn’t mean that God made you righteous the day you believe. He did that on the cross. Now whether you experience that righteousness or not it’s a separate matter.

A: We sin because we have Adam’s nature in us.

B: No that was crucified and circumcised on the cross.

Colossians 2:11

In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,

A: The Bible tells us not to sow in the flesh. So the flesh is still alive.

B: Sowing in the flesh comes from Galatians 6. It also tells you what it is.

Galatians 6:12

It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.
It is circumcision.

These verses do not apply to you anymore. They are talking about a period when Christians were going back to the Law.

The Law today is destroyed. It faded away in AD70.

A: But we are told to walk in the Spirit.

B: No. We are told we used to walk in the flesh. We NOW walk in the Spirit.

Note. We USED to walk in the flesh when we were in the Law.
Romans 7:5-6

For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the LAW were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.

Look happens now

Romans 8:9

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

You are ALREADY walking in the Spirit.

You are either in Adam or in Christ. You are either in the flesh or in the Spirit.

A: Then why do we sin?

B: You sin because you want to sin. You sin not because Adam wants to sin. Not because you need a nature to sin. You sin because you want to sin and you should be responsible for it. Don’t blame Adam or anyone else.

Why then do you think Jesus had to appear and bring justification to all?

It’s because people blame everyone else except themselves. That’s Adam. That system is gone. So is Adam.
